So you are looking at going on a camping holiday in the UK. What type of accommodation do you go for – would it be a caravan or a tent?

Many people would instantly say they would rather stay in a caravan but there is something quite special about staying in a tent and being that bit closer to nature. Many people that holiday in tents say that it brings them closer as a family and they learn to enjoy the simple things in life.

Tents do not have to be basic, many tents have good cooking facilities along with fridges/ freezers and bathrooms. Which the recent addition of glamping you could actually stay in a tent that is far more luxury than most caravans whilst still enjoying all nature has to offer. Why not try it if you haven’t already, I believe it is something everyone should try at least once in their life time.

With prices soaring in the school summer holiday you can see why many parents are choosing to take their children out of school in term time to go away. Although there is a fine to do this, many parents have said that it is more than worth paying that compared to what you save.

The government are in discussions about breaking the 6 week summer holiday up more evenly over the year which may see the prices drop slightly as people chose to go away different times of the year.

If you do have to stick to school summer holiday dates then I would suggest either book well in advance or pick up a very late deal as this is often when the most money is saved. Just remember if you are booking a late deal, to check that your passports are all valid and you have insurance set in place if you are going abroad.

The UK has a wealth of family holiday resorts on offer including Butlins, Centre Parcs and Pontins. These resorts are tailored to families with children of all ages and interests. As well as having activities on during the day, giving the parents time alone to do what they want to, they also often have great evening entertainment on site for all the family to enjoy. This includes entertainers, discos, comedy and bingo etc.

They are more expensive than staying on a normal caravan site but the added entertainment and play areas, water parks on site etc really mean that you do not have to venture further than the resort doors if you don’t wish to. Some of the accommodation is quite pleasant and is totally designed with a young family in mind. Children always seem to enjoy these types of holidays and parents also have that much needed break too.
