A family holiday to Egypt

If you think of a family holiday in the sun, Egypt may not be the first destination that comes to mind. With the threat of terrorist attacks and people often assuming that it is a very dangerous country, a large number of holiday goers are put off from visiting this amazing country.

Unfortunately many countries are at threat of terrorist attacks, even Britain is on high alert meaning that Egypt may not be any more of a risk than a trip to London.

Most of the resorts in Egypt over all inclusive stays and often work out quite a bit cheaper than the equivalent holiday in Spain for example. Egypt has a lot to offer especially if you are interested in culture and history. Even if you’re not, there is plenty of sunshine, sandy beaches and if you like a spot of scuba diving, you won’t be disappointed.

Many of the resorts are set up for families often having water slides, kids play areas and even kids clubs to make your holiday easy and enjoyable for all.

The temperatures in Egypt do tend to get a little warm and you can expect high 30’s to 40’s in the middle of summer, so if you are going with children you may wish to go early or late in the year.

Holiday with the kids- how to make the travel fun

When going on holiday the worse part for most people is the getting there part, and for children this is no exception! Young children struggle with the concept of how far away they are travelling and how long it will take to get there so you can expect the “are we nearly there yet?” performance to start about 5 minutes after setting off from home. There are ways to make the journey easier for everyone though and here are some ideas on keep both you and the kids sane.

Having plenty of snacks for the children to eat is always a winner and the more time the snack takes to eat the better so things such as cooked corn on the cob or a whole apple can be good but just remember to avoid anything too messy such as things that are likely to melt or be sticky like chocolate or cake bars.

Play games with the children along the way like how many red cars can you count or i-spy. For older children you could play more complicated games like memory games where they need to concentrate and remember a shopping list or a story to re tell. Keeping them distracted will help to pass the time and keep them interested too.

Making a holiday out of a short break away

If you are having to book to stay away for the night for a wedding or family get together then you may consider turning it in to a mini break for the family. Often it can be quite stressful getting to a wedding or event as you may worry about the time and getting caught up in traffic. If possibly why not try and book to stay a night before and possibly the night after to give yourself time to get to your location, explore the area and then arrive at the function on time. You then also have time afterwards to do something that you want to, possibly going to the beach or exploring the local town.

Some B and B’s and also hotels will actually offer you a lower rate per night if you stay two or three nights rather than just one. If you are struggling to get away for a main holiday this year, then one or two mini breaks can really give everyone the break they need and a chance to recharge their batteries.

Travel lodges or Premier Inn’s are often very reasonable and are usually a good clean standard of accommodation. If you fancy something a little different, why not book a quirky B and B which will probably have a lot more character.

When’s the best time to book a summer holiday?

With many of us starting to get fed up of the wintery weather, we often start to think about where we would like to go for our summer holiday. 2018 is nearly upon us and if you haven’t booked your holiday for next summer already then you may want to have a read below to find out some helpful tips and advice of when to book and how o get the best deal.

Often flights can be a huge part of the expense of a holiday abroad so finding the right flights is essential. Before checking your accommodation dates for prices have a look at prices of flights for different times of the year and then work backwards from that. Often it seems that the best prices for holidays can be snapped up in the first quarter of the year (first 4 months) as this is when there are usually sales on. Some people struggle to book holidays straight after Christmas so the tour operators often put on enticing deals to drum up some business.

Research shows that on average short haul flights often increase in price the closer to the departure date, so if you’re sure on where and when you want to go, you may want to book early to avoiding getting caught up in the price increases.

Going away for Christmas

With Christmas just over 4 weeks away, many of us have already planned what we will be doing on the big day. It you have a lot of family and friends that you want to see, you may find it a constant issue year upon year trying to see everyone whilst still having time for your own family. If this is the case then you may want to consider going away for Christmas with the people you wish to spend it with.

If you can all put together to hire a place for the week then you may be amazed at what you can get for your money. Very often you will find a farm house type building that will have upwards or 4 bedrooms for less than £1000 for a week over the Christmas season. So if you have four couples going that is £250 per couple for a week away. With a farmhouse you have the added bonus of the location as they are usually in quite rural places surrounded by wildlife and nature at its best.

A Christmas away with family can solve many of the usual problems that come up and may be just what you need.
