Family holidays can be a lot of fun and a great way for the family to bond and become closer. When you are booking a family holiday whether it be in the UK or abroad you should carefully consider the type of accommodation that you chose. Depending on the age of your children you may require certain extras in your room, for example, a travel cot, microwave or highchair. Not all hotels and B and B’s provide these as standard so make sure that you check in advance.

If you are looking to go camping, then you wil need to consider the temperature in the evening and possibly pack extra bedding than they would have at home. Camping is great fun but does tend to make the normal day to day tasks a little more difficult.

If you are going abroad make sure you check what the situation is regarding drinking the tap water, as especially young children, can become quite ill from drinking water abroad.

Holidaying in June or September?

The two most popular moths for summer holidays are July and August and that’s because the kids are off school. Of course this means that most destinations will be packed with children and families, meaning queues for food, activities, drinks and well… pretty much everything, especially in popular holiday locations.

June and September are the next two hottest months for most European holiday destinations, and if you’re looking to avoid the families then which one should you choose? A holiday in September is like a send off to summer, specially the British summer. This means that while you’re enjoying your holiday away, Britain may have rain tumbling down, while Englans can actually be rather warm in June, sometime warmer than Spain and Greece!

September can feel a bit too quiet though in some hotels, and it’s clear to see that the lively families are not around, and depending on where you stay, your holiday may  feel a little bit lifeless.

The Amalfi coast is well known for its exotic scenery and suburb weather and it’s a superb location for a holiday in September. In some locations across you’ll see temperatures drop significantly in September but that’s not the case on the Amalfi coast.

There is a deep blue sea, natural rock masterpieces and dazzling beaches. This stretch in southern Italy will provide you with some fantastic views, and it’s all about relaxing in this destination. There are towns which extend further as you walk up the mountains and it really does feel as though it’s somewhere out of a film set.

You can swim to the edge of the pool at your complex and with the most fabulous views of the sea and islands in the distance. This location that’s perfect for families and couples just prepare for a lot of walking because the amenities are always either up or down.

Family Water Sports on the Beach

There are many water sports on the on the beach in Spain, Greece, and France , and it’s the perfect opportunity to get a rapid rise in adrenaline. Both young children, teenagers and older family members can enjoy a ride on a banana boat or jet skiing and there tend to be so many different options out there.

One of the most popular activities on a beach in summer is parasailing, and this is where you’re basically lifted up behind a speed boat with a parasail, while you’re able to enjoy the scenery from a birds-eye view. The only downside is that you’re almost dry by the time your journey comes to an end and you have to land back in the sea to be soaking wet again.

In Greece there’s usually the chance to have a go in a ringo, which is basically a ring on the sea being towed quickly by a speed boat. You do stand a good chance of falling off though in this activity, depending on how fast the boat is travelling and how harsh the waves are.
