Family holiday to Newquay

Newquay is a popular destination for holiday makers from all over the world. With golden sandy beaches, great night life and sometimes beautiful weather, it is easy to see why thousands of people flick here year after year. Because of this, Newquay is quite an expensive holiday destination regardless of if you are staying in a caravan, tent or hotel.

If you are a family and want to rent a caravan for the trip then you may consider staying just outside of Newquay to save a few pounds. It will mean though that you are likely to have to drive in to Newquay if you want a trip to town or the beach. Parking is also very expensive in Newquay with a 24 hour ticket usually costing about seven pounds.

There are some beautiful little towns and beaches close by that are definitely worth a visit while you are down there.

Holiday prices

With many holidays seeming to get more and more expensive, many of us are starting to worry whether we will be able to afford to go on holiday with our family. If you have a large family you may find that a holiday abroad can cost in excess of a couple of thousand pounds.

When children reach the age of two you are mostly likely to have to pay a full child’s price for them on the plane and also at a resort. Many people think that they will save money by booking the flights and accommodation but this may not always be the case as some holiday super markets or travel agents are able to offer holidays at a massive saving and cheaper than you would be able to get should you book direct. Also if you book through a travel agent you may be able to be covered against holiday cancellations etc.

Caravan holidays in the summer holidays

We all love to go on holiday and if you have children or are a teacher you may well be restricted to school holidays. Holidays are expensive whatever the time of year, but if you do have to go in school holidays then you can expect to pay a lot more.

I recently started looking in to the price of caravan holidays in Newquay during the summer holidays. I was shocked to find that many of them were in excess of £1200 for one week. This seemed like a rather large amount of money for a holiday where you cannot guarantee the weather being nice. A Haven caravan was often £1700 plus for a week making it well out of our price range. The best way to find a bargain caravan holiday this time of the year is to try and book direct with the owner. If you do this you can usually save a large amount of then rental fee and may find that they are more flexible on the times you can get in and leave etc.

Family holiday fun

As a child I have very fond memories of holidays we had together as a family. It didn’t really matter to me where we were or even if the weather wasn’t great, it was just great to be altogether doing something we enjoyed.

Holidays can be expensive and therefore many people can only afford to go once a year or every other year, but I strongly recommend not putting off going away because you only have a small budget. You can still have a great holiday on a tight budget if you are willing to go back to basics a bit. A ten pitch can cost as little as £5 per night on a basic site but if you are only planning on being in the ten for sleeping you do not need to worry much about the entertainment on site and facilities. There are many activities you can do when on holiday that cost little or nothing such as going for a walk, building sandcastles or exploring local places of interest such as free museums or galleries.

Glamping holidays in the UK

If you are looking to go on holiday in the UK then you have a few options when it comes to accommodation. You can stay in a hotel or B and B but if you have a young family this may not be the cheapest or best option for you. As your children may have to be in bed at a certain time you may not want to be confined to one room in the hotel.

Caravan, lodges or cottages offer great space and often the mod cons such as microwaves, cookers and showers / baths that will make life a little easier but they can be costly especially if you are restricted to going in the school holidays. Tent camping holidays are possibly the cheapest way to go on holiday as you can get a pitch on a basic site for between £10 – £15 per night but you do need to consider the cost of camping equipment if you don’t already have it. Glamping is a relatively new concept and many holiday parks are now offering accommodation that falls within this band. Often you can find a tent that is already pitched for you and that has full sized beds, cookers and showers for a cost in-between the cost of a caravan and a tent pitch. This can allow you to save money whilst still having a little luxury.
