Adventure park holidays

With summer fast approaching many people are looking for places to take their family for a holiday. It may be that you can only go for a few days, but want to make sure that you have lots of fun and excitement whilst there. If you have children then you will probably want to go somewhere that has activities that are suited to their ages and that will allow all the family to spend time together as well as doing the thing they enjoy.

Adventure parks are a great way to fill your days with fun and then giving you quality time to spend together in the evenings, enjoying a meal, watching on site entertainment or even relaxing with popcorn and a film in your apartment.

Theme parks such as Alton Towers, have onsite accommodation, meaning you can arrive the night before and go straight in to the park when it opens in the morning. You do not have to worry about driving home afterwards and can then go out for a meal or enjoy time in the water park when you have had enough of the main theme park.

Easter family breaks

With Easter just round the corner, many of us are looking to a break from work or from education. This is a popular time for families to go on holiday, but the weather in the UK very unpredictable, it is a good idea to have some indoor activities planned. If you are staying on a camp site then you could do a simple Easter egg hunt. It may be that you hide the eggs within your tent or caravan or even around the campsite and give your child clues to find them.

Indoor play areas are often great places to spend rainy days. They usually cost between £1- £5 per child but often can entertain them for hours, whilst also giving the parents time to sit down with a cup of tea.

Prices for holiday resorts do tend to increase over the Easter holidays, so if you can go a week before or a week after then you may be able to save yourself some money and also go at a time that is less busy. Although this may mean that you miss out on some of the events that are often only put on during school holidays.

School holiday price swore

With many families booking their 2016 family holiday, it is again obvious that holiday prices are extremely higher during the school holiday period than booking the equivalent holiday in term time. This makes it almost impossible for some families to be able to avoid the holiday they want. Often the cost for a holiday abroad for a family will double if taken during term holidays. With the government introducing fines and strict rules regarding taking a pupil out of school, some families simply cannot afford to go.

Some schools have actually started to change their school holiday dates to try and help parents out with holiday planning. They often take a week off the usual six week summer holiday and put an extra week in somewhere else in the year. If all schools started to do this, it would make it virtually impossible for holiday companies to increase the prices so much as there would be no set holiday period.

Taking the children abroad

When your children are very little you may feel a little uneasy about taking them abroad. There are many concerns for parents of babies and toddlers when it comes to holidays outside of the UK such as the child getting ill from the food or water, immunisations that may be required, how the child will react to being on a plane and the worries of the heat if going abroad to a hot country.

Ideally I always wanted to wait until my children were a bit older before venturing abroad because of the points above but also I thought they would appreciate it more when they can take part in more activities.

I would always recommend (if possible), when taking your child abroad for the first time, to try and go someone that is not too far away such as France or Spain. Not only will you have a shorter flight time, meaning it they do not like it, you can probably pacify them for the short flight but also the weather is not usually too hot or cold and sometimes you can get similar foods to that from home.

Two holidays a year

Some people are lucky enough to be able to take two holidays a year. This is often done when people have children as they want to be able to have a holiday that is focused completely around the children and what they want to do and then a holiday that is aimed more at the parents.

Obviously this does usually cost more than having one break but if you can take book a holiday for the parents outside of school holidays then there are some great savings to be had.

Other families chose to always go away as a family, believing that a holiday should be for everyone. They may split their time doing some children based activities and others more for the adults. If you wish to go on one holiday for all, then you could look at what holiday clubs are available for the children at your chosen destination, so everyone gets a bit of time to themselves.
