Cheap honeymoon holidays

Honeymoons are often the type of holiday that you want to spend a little extra on, but with the average wedding in the UK costing around twenty five thousand pounds, it often leaves very little for the honeymoon. After all the stress of planning your perfect day, a honeymoon is a great opportunity to get away from it all and spend some quality time together as a newlywed couple.  Many of us dream about going to some secluded island somewhere for a week or two but unless you have a few thousand pounds spare then you may have to rethink your location.

A budget honeymoon does not mean you have to miss out on what’s important. It can be done, especially if you are happy to book last minute, it just may require a little more planning of what to do and where to go.

Think about the time of year you want to go, if you are thinking of a winter wedding but want to go somewhere hot for your honeymoon then you may wish to delay the holiday for a few months where temperatures tend to start to rise at many cheaper locations.

Holiday for the winter months

With the nights getting darker and the bad weather starting to hit across the UK many of us are considering heading off somewhere for a winter holiday.

Winter holidays can be a great time to get-away. You may find that you can also pick up a bargain in the run-up to Christmas.  It will allow you to enjoy summer in the UK and give you something to look forward to later on.

If you are looking for a winter holiday then you can often save a huge amount of money travelling in the first three weeks of December. If you leave travel until Christmas and/or New Year then you are likely to see a massive price increase.

If you want to go somewhere warm during the UK winter months then going during early December will not only save you money but will allow you to experience many locations during the quieter period where many beaches are deserted and planes only half full.  There are limited destinations that are hot enough for you to be walking round in your shorts during the winter months so do plenty of research before you book.

The Caribbean is often a popular destination in winter as you are unlikely to see temperatures any lower than 20C. Egypt is also a good choice if you are looking to go September through to November or February-March time.

A Butlins break for all the family

The first Butlins resort was opened in 1936 in Skegness. Over the years other Butlins resorts have been opened in Minehead and Bognor Regis. Butlins still proves to be a very popular holiday destination for families all over the UK and other parts of the world.

You can choose to stay onsite in a room, apartment, bungalow or chalet or even rent a caravan from one of the private owners. The caravan park is located onsite meaning you also get your entertainment passes included in the booking.

Butlins provides a free funfair, swimming pool as well as many activities to do during the day. They also have a host of entertainment on in the day and the evening from pantomimes to tribute acts and magicians. Over the last few years they have been able to secure bookings with some popular celebrities such as Stephen Mullhern and dance group Diversity.

If you are looking for an easy holiday to go on with your children, then Butlins may be the perfect break for you.  You can choose to go self catering or choose from one of their dinning packages so you don’t even have to think about cooking.

Finding cheap caravan holidays

Family holidays are an important time when everyone can put aside work and school for a while and spend some much needed quality time together.

If you want to go on holiday but are struggling with the constant rising prices and those of the major holiday companies such as Haven or Butlins, then you may think that you cannot afford to go at all, but this is often not the case.

I recently wanted to book a week’s holiday in July for my partner and I and our two children. I was amazed to find that for a week in Cornwall (during term time) was going to cost between £600 and £1000 pounds. I knew that we would be able to go abroad for a similar sort of price but was keen on staying in the UK. After a bit of research on independent sites, I found a caravan holiday in Wales for the same week for less than £200! Although this was not our first choice of location, I decided that with the money we would save on the actually accommodation, it would mean that we could do a lot more activities when on holiday.

Take a bit of time to learn the language when going on holiday

If you have booked a holiday to a country where they speak a different language to yourself, it can be beneficial to take a little bit of time to learn some of the common phrases you may need to know. This will allow you to communicate with some of the local people easily and may help you should you find yourself in a situation where you require assistance from the police or in a medical emergency.

Often just learning a few main keywords is enough to get you by and although you won’t be able to have full conversations with people it can help you out if you need to ask a question.

If you are really struggling to get to grips with learning a different language, then you could even take a phrase book with you that you can refer to should you need to.

Some languages are quite similar to English making it easier to communicate with people, but if the language is very different and you are staying in an area that is not host to a lot of tourists then you may find that many of the shop keepers and restaurant owners will struggle to communicate with you.
