Beach holiday verses countryside holiday

Many people think that when you are planning your annual family holiday it is preferable to be near the coast and that you have access to a beach but for those who do not like to spend time on the beach lying in the sun for hours or swimming in the sea there are alternatives that can provide an equally enjoyable holiday.

Staying in the countryside for your break away has lots of advantages. Firstly, the likelihood is that it will be less busy than a coastal resort so there will be more parking available at attractions and less queues to wait in. Restaurants and cafes will probably be less busy making it easier to dine when your family wants to.

There are many beautiful sights to see and explore in the countryside that you may be unaware of. It is an amazing, relaxing experience to sit on the bank of one of the meandering rivers in the UK with your picnic listening to the bird song and watching the wildlife around you.

If your perfect holiday is one that includes lots of activities, then staying at one of the Centre Parcs situated in the countryside is a good choice. There are a multitude of activities on offer to suit all the family, comfortable accommodation and a choice of restaurants to dine in.

Fun holidays for you and your young children

Everyone looks forward to their holidays so planning for your annual trip away is an exciting time but how can you make holidays with young children enjoyable for Mum and Dad too? The answer to this is to try to balance out the range of activities so that there is time for everyone to do something they enjoy. If you are having a beach holiday, taking it in turns to play with the children, building sandcastles or paddling in the sea whilst the other parent reads their book or relaxes with a spot of sunbathing is a good way to ensure everyone is happy.

Some holiday companies have children’s entertainers that run activities for youngsters and although parents will usually still be nearby it is an opportunity for them to unwind while their offspring are being entertained. Shows are often put on in the early evening that are aimed at young children and are fun to watch.

It is worthwhile holidaying with another family if this is possible as childcare can be shared so that parents can have some time without the children in the evenings to go out for a meal or a drink. If all the adults are together in the evening, when the children are asleep the adults can chat and chill out together.

Try not to take unnecessary items that simply take up space but are not really needed. Many people try and take items for every eventuality but realistically, if you really needed something you haven’t got you could either manage without it or buy it when you are away.

Don’t let a bit of rain spoil your time away with friends or family. Be sure to pack the rain coats and wellies and make the most of each day.
