Family holidays to the Cornish Riviera

Probably one of the best destinations for a holiday in the UK is Cornwall in the south of England as shown by the enormous number of visitors that head south in the summer.

One of the reasons for this popularity is that the climate is often a few degrees warmer than counties further north and so an out of season holiday may be as enjoyable if not more so as there may be less tourists and accommodation is less expensive. A walk on the beautiful sandy beaches in Cornwall can be enjoyed whatever the season.

If you enjoy a holiday on one of the many caravan and camping parks or prefer a stay in a friendly guest house or hotel, you will be spoilt for choice in Cornwall. Holiday accommodation can be expensive in coastal resorts but If you are willing to stay inland a few miles the cost of your holiday can be significantly reduced.

A stay on one of the Cornish farms that have accommodation on site can be a brilliant choice for a family giving younger members of your party the opportunity to interact with the farm animals. It may also be possible to sample some of the fresh produce from the farm a delicious treat for all the family.

Do your research before you book your holiday?

So many of us are desperate to go on holiday but now may not be the best time and you may feel disappointed if you spend thousands on a holiday and don’t really enjoy it much. The advice is changing almost daily on where is safe to go and where is not considered safe and many people have recently found themselves in a situation where they may have to self-isolate for fourteen days on their return from holiday. If they have no holiday left to take from work, they may have to take this unpaid.

Before you book a holiday, it is vital to research not only the accommodation but also the local area where you will be saying. This is especially important if you are going abroad to a country where they speak a different language as you may find it hard to communicate with the locals when trying to find out what there is to do in the area. You may find that some of the tourist attractions you may like to visit are not open due to Covid-19 or require you to book in advance. This will give you time to find place you can visit prior to your arrival.

If you have booked through a tour operator the chances are there will be a representative that is at the complex during certain times of the day. They should be able to assist you with some of the questions you may have or point you in the direction of someone who can if they cannot help.

Tips for a great family holiday

When booking a family holiday try not to get too caught up in the stresses that sometimes go with it. A holiday is all about enjoyment and if you put too much pressure on it to be perfect you may end up feeling disappointed.

Planning a family holiday can be scary and you may worry about how your young children will cope with the travel arrangements or how you can keep them safe when playing in the sun or in the pool. With any holiday, planning is essential and although you cannot prepare for everything, it will help you feel more in control and be able to relax.

If you have time, do some research in to the are you are planning on staying in. Find out what is about locally that you may enjoy to do and what times it is open. You can also find out about local places you may need to visit such as supermarkets or pharmacies. This will just put your mind at ease.

When choosing your accommodation, see what facilities there are on site and try and pick somewhere that has something for everyone. It may be that you want a resort with a toddler pool or one that has a games room on site. Always read reviews but make sure you bear in mind that everyone has different perceptions and standards.

Beach holiday verses countryside holiday

Many people think that when you are planning your annual family holiday it is preferable to be near the coast and that you have access to a beach but for those who do not like to spend time on the beach lying in the sun for hours or swimming in the sea there are alternatives that can provide an equally enjoyable holiday.

Staying in the countryside for your break away has lots of advantages. Firstly, the likelihood is that it will be less busy than a coastal resort so there will be more parking available at attractions and less queues to wait in. Restaurants and cafes will probably be less busy making it easier to dine when your family wants to.

There are many beautiful sights to see and explore in the countryside that you may be unaware of. It is an amazing, relaxing experience to sit on the bank of one of the meandering rivers in the UK with your picnic listening to the bird song and watching the wildlife around you.

If your perfect holiday is one that includes lots of activities, then staying at one of the Centre Parcs situated in the countryside is a good choice. There are a multitude of activities on offer to suit all the family, comfortable accommodation and a choice of restaurants to dine in.

Fun holidays for you and your young children

Everyone looks forward to their holidays so planning for your annual trip away is an exciting time but how can you make holidays with young children enjoyable for Mum and Dad too? The answer to this is to try to balance out the range of activities so that there is time for everyone to do something they enjoy. If you are having a beach holiday, taking it in turns to play with the children, building sandcastles or paddling in the sea whilst the other parent reads their book or relaxes with a spot of sunbathing is a good way to ensure everyone is happy.

Some holiday companies have children’s entertainers that run activities for youngsters and although parents will usually still be nearby it is an opportunity for them to unwind while their offspring are being entertained. Shows are often put on in the early evening that are aimed at young children and are fun to watch.

It is worthwhile holidaying with another family if this is possible as childcare can be shared so that parents can have some time without the children in the evenings to go out for a meal or a drink. If all the adults are together in the evening, when the children are asleep the adults can chat and chill out together.
