A great place to visit whilst on holiday is a local water park. Water parks range massively in activities and prices dependent on where they are and the size of the park. I have been to numerous water parks throughout my life and all have had a different experience to offer. Some of the best water parks are found abroad where the weather is generally good for a large proportion of the year. This means that they can stay open and take the money they need, to see them through the winter months.

Water parks usually do have something for everyone. They are often packed with adrenalin rush rides, rides for smaller children, lazy rapids for the family to enjoy as well as wave machines and sun loungers for those looking to relax. With the ample chose of activities to do, everyone will find something that will appeal to them meaning it is a fun day out for the whole family.

Theme parks are always a popular destination amongst families. They offer a wealthy of entertainment for all ages on one site and there are some great savings to be found especially if booking online.

Some theme parks offer overnight accommodation allowing you to make your visit more of a holiday than just a day out. This can be a great idea if you don’t want to worry about travelling to and from the park in one day and can extend the fun by allowing you to stay right up until the park closes.

The accommodation offered at these places can be quite expensive compared to the type of facilities and room you would get at a hotel. There is often discounts available for longer stays or last minute deals but is it really worth it?

My advice would be to research some local hotels near to the park as you may save yourself a small fortune by travelling a few minutes away from the park, still giving you the convenience of being close by.

Safety in the sun for your children on holiday

When you’re on holiday with the children and they are having fun in the pool or at the beach it’s always important to remember to protect them from the sun. Even on days where it feels a bit cooler the suns UV rays can still cause damage to children’s sensitive skin and eyes if they are not protected properly.

Here are some things that you will need to ensure your children stay safe in the sun:-

High factor sun cream – this should be factor 50 sun block and ideally should be one of the long lasting water resistant ones, however even these do need to be re-applied fairly regularly if children are in and out of the water.

Wide brimmed sun hat- these will protect the children’s face neck and eyes from the sun and keep the sun off their head to avoid getting sun stroke.

Wet suit style swim suit – these cover most of the child’s skin and offer UV protection as well as keeping them warmer in the water too, so they are well worth the money.

First holiday with your new-born

It can be quite a daunting thought as a new mum taking your little one on a holiday for the first time however there are lots of things that you can do to take the stress out of your first family holiday.

Some people find it less stressful to go away in the UK for their first trip away, this way you don’t have to worry about passports of flying with a young baby and don’t have to worry about going somewhere that will make caring for your baby harder if you don’t know the language for things like ‘please can you warm up the milk’.

Often it’s worth staying in a self-catering apartment or a static caravan as if you have bad weather no one wants to be stuck in a cold tent trying to keep a new-born warm and comfortable.

Also in the UK you don’t have to worry about taking loads of nappies and milk with you as you know that you will easily be able to find a supermarket that will sell the brands that you currently use.
